CARA SPORT INCLUSION IRELAND

CARA develops and delivers training and education courses across the sport, fitness, adventure and education sectors. The aim of CARA is to increase opportunities for people with disabilities to lead an active and healthy lifestyle and to support organisations to be more inclusive of people with disabilities. The courses listed below are organised and delivered locally by the Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs). https://caracentre.ie/training/

This workshop is designed to build awareness around people with disabilities participating in community sport and physical activity.

On completion of the course all attendees will receive a CARA Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland.

This course is designed to provide attendees with the knowledge, skills and ideas on how to adapt and modify your sport, physical activity or physical education sessions to make them more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.

Attendees will be engaged through interactive group work, theory content and will be introduced to adaptation tools which will be applied to a variety of games and activities on how to make these inclusive for all ability groups.

On completion of the course all attendees will receive a CARA Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland, a resource manual and a games booklet full of fun inclusive activities.

This course is designed to inspire attendees to help make their adventure activities and outdoor environments more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.

The training will provide access to resources that will increase the knowledge related to Inclusive Adventure Activities.

On completion of the course all attendees will receive a CARA Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland.

A pre-requisite prior to the face to face session is completion of the E-learning content which will inform the attendee about Legislation, Language and Communication, Including People with Disabilities in Physical Activity and Sport and understanding of Paralympic, Special Olympics and Adapted Sport.

The face to face session is a practical based workshop which will involve exploring equipment and facilitating how to engage people with disabilities in an adventure environment, planning for adventure activities, planning for the unplanned with plenty of scenarios and practical activities (land and/or water based).

This course is designed to increase the confidence and awareness of fitness managers, fitness professionals and all front line staff to work with people with disabilities in the fitness sector.

The training will provide access to resources that will increase the knowledge of fitness managers and fitness professionals to create inclusive environments and programmes in the fitness sector for people with disabilities.

On completion of the course all attendees will receive a CARA Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland and REPS Ireland.

This course will provide attendees with an understanding of Autism focusing on the delivery of sport.

The course will help attendees to recognise and understand key areas of difference as well as looking at practical strategies which will help to include people with autism in sport sessions.

The course makes use of presentation, interactive group work and video.

On completion of the course all attendees will receive a CARA Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland.

The course is offered in-house (our tutor comes to your organisation) €700.00 (this includes materials and expenses for a maximum of 20 people). Funding support may be available.
