Cycling Experience for all on Sunday 24th September 2023
Carlow Arts Festival and Carlow Sports Partnership have collaborated to bring you this exciting collective cycling experience that explores language, history, landscape and cycling. You are invited to join us on your bike at the scenic Duckett’s Grove for a leisurely 18km cycle suitable for all cycling abilities.
The unique experience has been developed by artists, Michelle Browne and Eszter Némethi, with the support of community members from Rathvilly, Graiguecullen, Tullow and Hacketstown. Through a series of workshops, they have been looking back to 1923 and imagining our future in 2123.
There will be something for all on the day including an audio guide along the route, kids cycling options, choral music and a BBQ which is included on the price of your ticket.
Date & Time: Sunday 24th September. Registration from 10.30am-11.30am. Cycle leaving at 12pm and should take around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Shuttle Bus available to an from the event at an additional €2 per head from Tullow, Rathvilly, Hacketstown and Graiguecullen.
Borrow a Bike – limited number of bikes are available for both adults and kids on the day.

Positive Ageing Event
Positive Ageing Introduction to parkwalk
Are you aged over 55 and want to improve your health and fitness in a fun and social community setting? Being more physically active and moving more whilst getting out with others in your locality? This FREE introductory programme aims over 4 weeks to enable participants to partake in a Positive Ageing parkwalk event in Rathwood on Saturday October 7th which promises to be an enjoyable morning for all. Participants can walk, jog or run either part or all of the parkrun course.
The preparation sessions which are suitable and adaptable for all levels will give participants the base and confidence to begin their new parkwalk fitness journey.
FREE preparation sessions led by John Kenny will take place on Thursday evenings 7pm-8pm at Tullow Community School Pitches on:
- September 14th
- September 21st
- September 28th
- October 5th
Positive Ageing Parkrun event takes place in Rathwood on Saturday 7th October at 9.30am.

A Club Children’s Officer should be child centred in focus and have as the primary aim the establishment of a child centred ethos within the club. S/He is the link between the children and the adults in the club. S/He also takes responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy impacts on young people and Sports Leaders.
Each person attending the course will need to use their own independent device.
Safeguarding 1 course must be completed before you take part in Safeguarding 2.

Designated Liaison Person Workshop (3hrs)
The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency or Social Services (NI) and/or An Garda Siochána / PSNI.
It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role.
The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role.

Sports First Aid - Sat 8th July 2023
Sports First Aid
this 8-hour sports first aid course is designed to ensure you have sufficient knowledge and skill to deal with most injuries or illnesses which occur during sport. The content of the course is similar to the three day Occupational First Aid course but not covered in as much detail.
A good overview of the theory will be included, and a lot of time given to practicing the practical skills involved in emergency first aid for adults, children and infants. Attendees receive detailed notes and a certificate.
